Obituary  

Ruth A. Lamphier-Updike, 69, of 2998 Route 54A, Bluff Point, NY died on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at her home.  

There will be no prior calling hours.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Branchport United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Barb Gifford.  

Memorials may be made to the Branchport United Methodist Church, 8290 Ford Road, Branchport, NY 14418 or Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 205 North Ave, Penn Yan, NY 14527.  

Ruth was born April 29, 1941 in Penn Yan to Leroy and Ann (Nelson) Champlin.  She was a graduate of Penn Yan Academy and worked for Gannett for 22 years, retiring in 2006.  Along with her husband, they owned, raised, and raced horses at the Finger Lakes Race Track.  

She is survived by her husband, Walt Updike; her daughter, Dana (Glenn) Limperis-Becker; five grandchildren:  Jordan, Jamie, and Noah Limperis; Taylor and Noah Lamphier; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Champlin; nephews:  Brad (Cindy) Champlin; Brian (Kate Dean) Champlin; niece Roxanne Champlin; several great-nieces and nephews; and dear, friend Robin Plourde.  

She was predeceased by her parents, Leroy and Ann Champlin; brothers, Keith and Kenneth Champlin; and son, Jeffrey Lamphier.
